Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm not aware that LU provides that many components for modems, at least the USR modems. My guess, and I welcome a correction is that LU provides components mainly in the NIC area?

Lucent has been the main supplier of 3Com's various inhouse-designed ASIC chips. The relation dated back to the first Ethernet single chip controller, when Lucent was still part of AT&T (about 5 to 6 years ago). IMO, it'll build up at least into some kind of partnership or technology exchange.

If Lucent makes a bid for it, IBM probably won't stay on the side line. Don't you think?
