That, and... fairly easy to make the case that you are pointing out the same thing, as... "Do you bring freedom"... and "folks flock to America"... both asks and answers. I've taken an Uber in lots of places... (mostly) without speaking a word of Arabic or Farsi... ? The few Vietnamese I know... are as much or more American than Vietnamese today... in second generation, and do not appear to me to be suffering much, under our imperialist oppression ? Still not an endorsement, by me, of Vietnam as an example of rational policy making... rather than another war that had no obvious reason to happen... without a bit of excess in "the usual" in religious fervor to convert the heathen... or, however that gets rebranded... Did the war in Iraq (using technology from 40 years ago), then to now, kill more people, or fewer people, vs the pace at which Saddam was killing them before the war... "and today they thrive"... "just happened" ? The war itself vastly easier to justify... "reason" not being the same thing as "marketing"... than the total self imposed shit show that resulted from winning... without having a plan for winning... as the Army had [ignorantly] declared "not our job"... ? So, a penance due in Afghanistan... and not a flat learning curve. However, I accept 2753 deaths in New York, in one day, on September 11, 2001... as an not unrelated calculus... to the ~2402 deaths acknowledged in Afghanistan, between 2001, and August 31, 2021... a symmetry, more in context of the negotiation enabling the withdrawal of only ~3000 American's still remaining in 2021... which suggests more "the fulfillment of a contract" and its expiry than anything else. Excepting stupid Joe being stupid Joe... as Obama warned us... apparently wrong in thinking his selection ensured his own safety... as the current Veep's role seems to be... The Russians lost 15,000 in ten years... and failed while desperately trying. American's... never cared before 9/11... and still never cared a whit about keeping it. Perhaps is similar, as Biden supplying weapons to Ukraine, now... in mostly an advantage in having him focused on that... instead of arming Democrats in Georgia to "restore legitimate control over Florida" ?
