Moe is Mr. Happy where DSC is concerned. My post about layoffs at DSC a few months back was attacked by Moe but was later confirmed by a poster who received resumes from the people laid off. I now know that many of these former DSC people now work at Nortel in Richardson. Read posts by LARRY POLLOCK or Yeadon to see some balance.

I also got this from the Yahoo message board...... a lot of
nagtiveism there but this one was interesting....

Ah yes, the equipment failure...
First things first, by way of introduction, I am an employee of DSC in
the Motorola Division. As such I'm not exactly in the
best of positions to know about new products. What I do know is that our
little division has more work than it knows what to do
with, and not enough employees. That could be a good sign, unless we
have trouble meeting our deadlines, then it could be a bad
sign. Hard to say; depends on Motorola's tolerance levels. At any rate
its hard to see that relationship breaking off anytime
soon.
As for that equipment failure... It was back in 1991, and I do believe
it made quite extensive headlines at the time. What happened, true
story, an engineer at DSC gave a verbal description to a software bug
fix *over the phone*. Something got misheard, and that was all it took.
Came close to taking down the whole company, but somehow it survived,
and managed to repair its reputation. 1996 was a bad year as you know,
but they did quite a bit of hiring in late 96, early 97, including yours
truly.
I'm as perplexed by DSC's reverse momentum as any of you are; perhaps
that in itself says something. One thing I do find heartening is the
sharp increase in message traffic on this board. That, and the
SmartMoney article, tell me we're getting noticed. I, for one, can't
imagine this stock staying down much longer.
Thanks, and keep the discussion lively.
