Wharfie,
Lacking the firepower for territorial gains, Russia may shift to defense, the U.S. intelligence chief says.
That would be the most sensical direction for the RuZZians (other than ending this war and rebuilding for the future, of course).

And Ukraine demonstrated that they can hold the line while giving up only a few square kilometers of territory at a time, even with the RuZZians throwing everything they can at the line.

But when it's Ukraine's turn to slam against RuZZia's lines of defense, will they do any better, even with NATO armor?

I mean, like I said, the problems of overcoming trench warfare were already solved post WWI and WWII. It's just a matter of Ukraine being competent, unlike the idiots leading RuZZia's soldiers.

Ukraine Claims Bakhmut Battle Is Wagner’s ‘Last Stand’ (msn.com)

This article is actually from the NYTimes, and it describes the method behind the madness of staying in Bakhmut.

Ukraine's generals are convinced that they can essentially drain the Vagner thugs of prisoners to throw into the meat grinder, thereby rendering them ineffective in future battles.

However, Master Chef Prigozhin has claimed the same thing in reverse, that he's throwing his thugs into the meat grinder in order to exhaust Ukraine's best and most experienced defenders.

I think there's an ounce of truth to what the Master Chef is saying, and that Ukraine is indeed losing valuable soldiers that could have been used for a spring offensive.

But I also think the Master Chef is bluffing and won't reveal that the Vagners are done. That is, of course, unless he's allowed to recruit more professionals from the RuZZian regular army as well more prisoners from the gulags.

We'll see if Zelensky made the right call.
