SIVB could be the canary in the coal mine. I wonder how much bank equity has evaporated from securities losses coupled with deposits vanishing in the wake of the fed raising interest rates suddenly.

Why would "securities losses" affect bank equity? Securities (I presume you mean stocks) are generally held by brokerage customers, and are not part of "bank equity".

Any bank that comingles it's customer's equity and it's own equity deserves to go bust, and then to jail.

So what do you guys think of SIVB ….it’s down 60% in one day. Worth the gamble?
According to the news they lost 2billion on MBS and other securities …..
Looks like they are trying to stop a run on the bank. But if these guys were only paying .05% in savings and checking why wouldn’t people move their money to other banks offering 4% like Morgan Stanley etc…
