Banks are getting slaughtered, today... None more so, nor more deservedly so... than SIVB... down 60% on the day... another 20% after hours. It appears they've tweaked a few noses in the past, and, payback is a bitch ? Not only is The Revolution not self-funding... today... its checks are bouncing... ? I chatted with them about a potential "no brainer" of a project... maybe... two years ago... as it was dead center in their wheelhouse... Not anything specific I shared... just wanted to meet and get to know them... before sharing... and made that clear... as that I'd found and was talking to "the right guy"... And, many promises, but it never happened... so couldn't "create a relationship". I eventually walked away shaking my head... after a series of... odd events... apparent snubs... maybe, rudeness... or, just... "key leaders" got "too busy" and thus unable to manage a phone call, or make an appointment they'd put on the calendar ? I persisted for a bit longer than reasonable... only as became curious about it... so, then... you poke at it more... as that brand, depth, and scale of... cluelessness... hard to find... worthy of study. Really was not hard to find more reasonable people to work with... one call... one meeting... and deal done. [Although... I'd maybe not think "right now" a particularly good time to call any of them up, just to chat.] But, when you have an easy and obvious alignment defining itself... that clearly has it make as much or more sense for them, as it does for your project ? Got the clear impression they really didn't have a clue what they were doing... but they were all "full throttle" up front... and getting promoted for that... with zero tail. Banking... largely being about relationships... makes it easy to sort out those to avoid... ? SIVB showing their "depth", today... by plumbing for it... is what experience suggests... Or, is there something else going on... that were just not being told about, yet ?
