DECT is essentially cordless phones. I also don't think it is totally proprietary, either.

With the upcoming LMDS auctions, which is three different license, it will be interesting to see how that evolves. 1100 Mhz of B/W in a cellular concept could prove to be very interesting. The other two licenses will be for smaller B/W but still formidable.

I'm not sure I do understand the ETSI bastardize deal or what it is implying. Until I see the specific proposal and have time to study it, I'm left listening to the FUD of the various manufacturers as to what it supports and not supports.
