Is Switzerland still a trading powerhouse? Perhaps if Glencore, Vitol and Gunvor disappeared overnight it would dislocate some commodity markets short term and hit some countries like Russia even harder but they already resigned to selling more into China, India and Turkey at a discount, haven't they? There are the banks that underwrite letters of credit for maritime shipping, and won't pretend to know much about that but would guess some non-Swiss banks could or would quickly step in to absorb that business?
