Experiences guides everything I do. There is no fixed pattern or script I can work on.

We are going to be discussing this VERY topic in our chat session Monday at 6pm, est.

I like SNET broadcast for less active volatile stocks.
I like SOES for active stocks on smaller pieces
I like SNET preference when a stock once you know who the buyer is and you have more stock to go. I like SNET preference on very, very active SOES stocks since the firm quote rule applies and the NASD will abitrate in moments a backing away claim. SNET preference is presentment of an order and "not seeing it" is not an excuse. For instance if someone wanted 1000 DELL when the market opened up down -220 after -550 day, we realized quickly that SOES was useless and wen to prefence SNET orders or phone based....sometimes working bothe at the same time, and whichever got done first, cancelling the other.

This list could go another 40 lines and we wouldnt be close to creating a script.
factors: size of piece to move, volatility of stock, type of market makers, type of execution systems mm's expose themselves to, what the customer is after (snagging it right now, go after it 100% or pick up the 5000 but don't sweat it, i'd rather get a price improvement and work it inbetween since I dont think its going anywhere, etc).

Its like asking a hockey player what he does when he rushes up the ice. The goal is well known, but the means to the end is sometimes a moment to moment decision, based on experience and current conditions.
