I hate to suggest something like this, but for the spo bid to be that high suggests that there is somebody trying to buy a chunk of this company on the sly through the SPO and willing to pay a premium. Tom's question, where was the interest 2 days ago, is a damn good one. If there was nobody interested in buying on the open market a few days ago, why would they subscribe above the market price? The only thinkg I can think of is that the SPO offers an opportunity to get a large piece, all at one time, without running up the price. What does this mean? I leave that to others to ponder. Bruce, seems like this one is right up your alley.

Tom, you're not alone, I too have been running that "stupid question" through my head ever since mention of the second offering. To me, if they we're interested in putting $$in the bank, why didn't they do things to raise the stock price. All legitimately of course. They should have rode the last wave and positioned themselves where they could get $15-$18/share.
Yes, I too wonder why all the hype. Public reaction seems to be like this is a new IPO. ???I don't get it.
Are those shares liquidable upron reciving them? I haven't heard anytrhing to the contrary, so I assume they are. BOOM, now we have more than 4X our recent average daily just waiting to be sold. Again, even at $11 why haven't all these people who want them been loading up in the $10 range. Strange indeed!! I would be surprised today if it holds even. But since stranger things have happened, I suppose it'll close above $14.
Even if the shares are sold at 13 9/16, if the price it above that when they get their hands on them, I see chunks being sold on any weakness.Time will tell.AugustWest.

I'm looking at a pre-market bid/ask 13 9/16. So, dumb question, but if the price of the SPO is 13 7/16, why would anyone pay more than that now?

Because institutional subscribers to the secondary are often required (by the terms of the deal) to buy more in the aftermarket. So generally it's assumed that after delivery the price will go up; therefore, buy now.

Evidently even the lead underwriters couldn't get very many shares for retail sales.
