Maybe the subject of many more posts, the fundamental side of things.

The ST might just be related to supply and demand, pretty sensitive for crude it is. At the moment seems we have global over supply, awa US over supply. And more or less, when it was not anticipated.

LT well another story. You are into power. I think what is going on in the power industry is just fascinating.

Equinor is formerly Statoil, Norway's state owned oil and gas company. Went public in 2001. They are international not small potatoes. Stock Performance, not bad.

  • Equinor leading the charge maybe in deep offshore floating wind turbines. Used their condeep oil platform technology. Condeep ... related to use of concrete floating/submersible platforms, several in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Norwegians, very good with concrete.
  • Have a huge project on the east coast, floating offshore wind turbine power. BP is a partner, not positive imo, not a BP fan.
  • Just won the rights for a huge project offshore CA.
  • BP and Shell are involved in offshore wind turbine power, to my knowledge. Not aware of major US oil and gas cos taking the plunge.

Equinor in plain english believes EV's within 5 years are seriously gonna affect the price of crude. Their goal is to be a leader in deep offshore wind turbine power. They make no bones about it. Thanks to Elon Musk and Tesla.

Equinor just finishing up a project of floating offshore wind turbine power, to supply about 80 MW of power to a batch of offshore platforms that produce oil and gas. That is profound. They would not have done this without some sort of projected pay out, over the lifetime of the oil and gas production.

I know a bit of Equinor, spent many a night on their platforms.

Other resources, not shown, state deep offshore wind turbine power is becoming cost competitive with natural gas fired turbine generator power plants. I cannot verify, I only know from all my experience that the operating cost is embedded in the fuel cost. All the rest is in the grass. I have done many many computations on all of this. Wind turbine power, fuel is free, and yes they have had some problems, but technology is young, humans are good at solving problems.

OTOH globally there is an isatiable appetite for energy. This is not going to play out in a few years. These projects related to WT power are huge, as are oil and gas projects. It takes years for all of this to play out. As such I am bullish NG, long term. 50/50 on crude.

China just came out with the largest deep offshore wind turbine, > 18 MW's. Wow. Where is the limit. China currently the largest wind turbine power generator globally.

I have spent a few nights on some of these platforms.

More poop.

I've spent a few nights on Stord Island, got really pissed once, in my younger days.

This is all fascinating ym, playing out in our lifetimes. Do not piss it off is my advice. I am retired, I have time to read and research. Up until recently I had no idea all this was taking place. Some of the things are profound, it will play out over time, not in just a few days.

The engineering involved in these technologies is very young, and amazing as well. But I repeat, free cost of fuel is a big banana.
