"Science can do wonders in explaining why we're getting drenched here in California even though we're in a multi-year drought, but it does a terrible job predicting when the world will end due to climate change."

Science hasn't predicted the end of the world due to climate change, prolly cuz it's changed before, and the world is still here. Those who said, "We have... years to stop climate catastrophe" were right; it's already happening, and it's only gonna get worse.

"Greta's activism is based on a sense of urgency, that we need to save the planet for her generation. "

That, and the generation after that, and the one after that, if we're still here. Is your denial based on the fact that you're gonna be dead before her generation pays the price?

"She bases her urgency on 'the science' without knowing WTF that encompasses."

Your lack of urgency is ideological, not scientific.

This news isn't a very big deal to me; I said it was too late to stop 1.5 degrees when the Paris Accords were signed. We'll be lucky to hold it to 2 degrees.

You two bandy about the term "she" in a fairly cavalier fashion. Rat especially should know better.
