Cheque clearing for British banks (from Feb. 11)

MPACT Immedia and Logica team up to supply British banks with high-volume cheque-clearing system

MessageWay is the core of a massive messaging operation

Montreal, February 11, 1998 - Bankers Automated Clearing Services (BACS)
in Britain has chosen MPACT Immedia and Logica, the leading independent
systems integration and software company in Europe, to supply an Electronic
Commerce messaging solution to the world's largest and most successful
financial clearing house.

BACS Ltd is owned by all the major banks and building societies in the UK. It
selected MPACT Immedia's MessageWayr to act as a central messaging, file
transfer and EDI translation facility for the massive clearing organization. Logica
installed and tested the system in London. After a six week 'proof of concept' pilot
run by Logica, BACS was convinced that MessageWay could provide the
cornerstone of the technical infrastructure on which to develop new products and
services to fulfill BACS' objective to enhance the service it provides to the British
banking industry.

"Logica was able to demonstrate quite conclusively that MPACT Immedia's
MessageWay was not only the 'best of breed' product for our purposes but that it
could provide a flexible, cost-effective solution for our development plan," said
Anthony Hughes, BACS Business Development Director. "Within weeks,
MessageWay was proving that its integrated message communication, translation
and powerful management facilities were capable of providing the architectural
base on which to develop our new products. Following on from this, we are now
planning to develop further services for our member banks and building societies
by summer 1998."

Ron Daniels, Director of Logica's Cross Sector Products Division, commenting on
the BACS installation, said: "MessageWay is a proven electronic delivery channel
with rock solid communications which is why it works in a wide range of different
industry sectors. Logica already has major MessageWay clients in the finance,
automotive, telecommunications, manufacturing and distribution sectors."

Brian Edwards, President and CEO of MPACT Immedia, added that the BACS
project was another breakthrough in the British banking industry. "It is a major
accomplishment to partner with Logica and BACS on this communications
project," said Edwards. "Both those firms are recognized leaders in the Electronic
Commerce industry and this use of our MessageWay system puts us on the
cutting edge of financial-transaction technology. The potential to extend the
product's reach across Europe is excellent."

MessageWay is designed by MPACT Immedia Systems of Livonia, Mich., and is
distributed internationally by Logica. MessageWay customers in the UK include
Barclays Bank, The Post Office, British Aerospace, Dell Computers, Citibank and
Rover Motor Company. The product provides integrated message communication,
translation and powerful management facilities for bulk file and message based
services, with a pedigree in cross-border, low value, high volume payments
collections. It provides automated management of the entire communications
process to minimize costs and human error and is a proven solution which can be
delivered quickly at low risk and at low cost.

Founded in 1969, Logica plc is a leading international computer consultancy,
systems integration and software company. Logica's clients operate across
diverse markets including finance, telecommunications, energy and utilities,
industry, government, defence, transport and space. Logica has 5,500 staff in 22
countries world-wide and has completed 15,000 projects in more than 60
countries.

MPACT Immedia Corporation, a worldwide leader in Electronic Commerce, offers
both EDI Commerce and Internet Commerce products and services through its
offices in Montreal, Livonia (Michigan), and Toronto. By marketing with strategic
partners, MPACT Immedia has developed a client list of many of the Fortune 1000

Clinton to support E-commerce - we've got to get ourselves on Nasdaq!

President Clinton has agreed to address the BancAmerica Robertson
Stephens San Francisco Technology conference Thursday. The
President's subject will be the new economy and the benefits of
electronic commerce, the White House announced.

Until recently, the brokerage firm's chairman, Sanford Robertson, had been expecting the Vice President to make the keynote speech. "We got lucky," he told the San Francisco Chronicle, adding, "Technology is the largest industry in the country and we really have the administration's and Congress' attention."
