The article doesn't mention if Lappin has any relationship to IIXC, or anything about QWST's terrific earnings, or....

In any event, the stock shook off some early morning weak hands, and is off it's lows. No big size sellers, either.

1 block at 70 for 10K, a few 5K blocks and lots of 1K stuff or lower.

Doesn't seem to scare the true believers. As well IIXC might be a good buy, but not at the expense of QWST. Philip and Joe know what their doing.

This stock is headed nowhere but up. Any dip we see today caused by Ms. Lappin's pitiful, irresponsible analysis will be quickly corrected. Her comments do absolutely nothing to change my opinion about this stock long term. IXC is a fiber wholesaler and that's it. Qwest's vision is far broader than that. That's why you see the likes of Cisco and Hughes entering into strategic alliances with this company.

Her analysis that Qwest should sell for 1/2 its current price and IXC should sell for 2X its price is so simplistic. Her statements are nothing more than a cheap shot against a company that has enjoyed enormous success and which will continue to grow exponentially. I truly question her motives. Surely, she if she is not that uninformed. I'm sure a few will be naive enough to follow her advice. They will get burned badly. Qwest will soar after the split. Good luck to anyone who is so short-sighted to follow this one analyst's meaningless advice.

I'm curious, could anyone on this thread who is familiar
with other companies with fiber networks under construction--
such as WMB, Level3-- render an opinion as to whether those
companies receive construction revenues during the build-out
process? Or is it a pure expense? In the meantime I'll try to
find what I can, to answer my own question.

On an unrelated note. This found in Red Herring...
