Supply/demand out of whack coming out of covid. 200% or more tariffs, etc. add up. Owning assets is a must. Echos of the 70s, imho.

The direct insurers insurance, known as reinsurance, has gone up as well. Not just property cat coverage.

I remember when Alicia hit Houston in 83 for a couple of billion. The same storm would be north of $20 billion. Ian last year is $60 billion (insured, plenty of storm surge which is not covered).

Some Florida CAT lines were over 100% this renewal season.
