Re what you cited, appended here for completeness ...
I just got off a zoom call with two of my buddies, and one lives in Palm Beach and the other Palo Alto

The pal living in Palm Beach has done me well several times since 1993, all at crucial points, going up and going down, before and before, respectively, big-arrow stuff and granular nuggets

The 1 hour and 50 min call was illuminating, because both are mostly situation-aware and so little time is lost in preliminaries, and we got down to the nitty gritty 30 seconds into the call.

Both are aware of my pending issue of cash deployment for the Mrs, and we talked macro down through stock / bond / currency selections, and timing per Armstrong 2023 - 2032.

Big takeaways (check means I agree),

(1) Do not buy anything that does not produce or transport stuff that does not hurt if dropped on foot (check)

(2) Go for things that are absolutely necessary for operation of the domain (nation / state / territory) (check)

(3) Need yield (check)

(4) Short term rate (i.e. 2-years) shall likely rise to 7% before tightening done done (agnostic)

(5) European war shall likely expand to beyond Ukraine (check)

(6) European capital shall flow to US (check)

(7) Galaxy bifurcating (check)

(8) China shall be leader of one of two parts (check)

(9) Europe rekt (check)

(10) US might not hold together (agnostic)

(11) Investment selections for the USD portion (50/50 USD/HKD)

(11-i) XOM (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-ii) ET finance.yahoo.com

(11-iii) ET (check) cumulative preferred (there are three)

(11-iv) EPD (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-v) VAL finance.yahoo.com

(11-vi) RIG finance.yahoo.com

(11-vii) TORM finance.yahoo.com

(11-viii) NLY (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-ix) RIO (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-x) BHP (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xi) GDX (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xii) GDXJ (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xiii) SIL (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xiv) NEM (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xv) FNV (check) finance.yahoo.com

(11-xvi) can buy selected constituent stocks of GDX / GDXJ / SIL (check)

(11-xvii) short housing

(11-xviii) do not buy regional banks (check)

(11-xix) do not buy insurance companies

(11-xx) go slower re TLT modulation

The conversation re macro was rather scary.

The ice coffee was good.

THE EVERYTHING COLLAPSE

Sadly, Gold is now on its way to heights which are unthinkable for most people.

To all the people who have asked me over the years why Gold doesn’t go up, I have replied:

“Don’t wish for Gold to go up substantially for when it does, your quality of life will deteriorate remarkably.”

And we are now at the point in the world when this is likely to happen.
