Hey Wharfie, the long-awaited counteroffensive from Ukraine will have to wait.

Reports are that Bakhmut had a record snowfall (that climate changey thingy), and precipitation is in the forecast for the next two weeks.

This makes the ground super-muddy, which complicates pretty much everything, especially armored assaults.

Combined with reports that Ukraine still doesn't have enough weaponry, and that NATO assistance is slow in coming, the poor guys in Bakhmut may have to hold out for another month or two.

Wharfie, more on Bakhmut ...

The record snowfall ended up helping the RuZZians. This is because the weather bogged down any potential attacks along the flanks of Bakhmut, but it didn't not affect urban combat as much.

RuZZians took advantage of the opportunity and concentrated all of their artillery fire upon the city itself.

This is how the Vagner thugs were able to claim the city center for themselves. They basically turned the entire center into a big pile of rubble, along with any potential positions where Ukrainian snipers might be located, then sent cannon fodder to the center and placed a flag there.

RuZZians are still losing troops by the dozens, but at this point they don't give a Brandon anymore. The cannon fodder are forced to move forward into a killing zone anyway because if they take even one step in the opposite direction, they'll be shot by their own soldiers.

Result? Master Chef Prigozhin can now proclaim "Mission Accomplished." Only cost him tens of thousands of lives, but that's a sacrifice "he" is willing to make.
