Hi Jim-- I don't believe that # is known. They've reported, according to Kaiser, at least 5 clusters now, with the three new clusters planned for drilling in the '98 program.

I do know they're finding more targets all the time (>100 and rising). And in terms of drilling, they sure seem to have the K-hit system deciphered in the region.

Speaking of which, since Ashton has (naturally) kept these revelations to themselves, others are finding it isn't as easy as it looks! One concern has been the depth of the overburden. The AGS "Bulletin #63" has a drift (glacial till) map on page 20-- it's rapidly becoming a hotly sought after item. Topographical highs may be part of the key.

Montello is working hard at getting to the kimberlite. They are currently drilling their fourth target, which is considered to be one of their best to date. In terms of speed of progress, the shareprice indicates difficulties for them. We may see some kind of news release next week. I remain to have v.little doubt that they will hit kimberlite (if they haven't already).

Yes, the PDAC in March (8-11)-- here's a list of exhibitors:
pdac.ca

& also the Small Cap Inv. in Calgary Tues, Edm. Wed. (see MEO thread for info: Message 3420157 ).

They have more targets that have not been reported but hinted at. To date, 2 clusters of pipes have been drilled. Three more clusters are being drilled right now.

Ashton has become very quiet. As I stated in the last letter, they have the key to turning anomalies into kimberlites. They don't want to let others know where the clusters are because they don't want to make it too easy for them to figure out how to match the magnetic signatures, with other data, to identify possible kimberlite bodies.

Michael Dufresne, M.Sc., P.Geol, is doing an article for The RESOURCE INDICATOR which will outline what clues companies should be looking for and thus what investors should be looking for.

Sincerely,
