It really depends on your ability to count, and the price of lithium vs a barrel in the future. Predict either one and you could get rich.

For sure though the rich have done spread sheets. If you can afford the upfront costs of panels & storage I'd say similarly sized EVs are going to be cheaper long run. Get a fast charger and save $$$ on time wasted at gas stations. Make $500/hr? Save plenty, & savings are untaxed. The rich love Teslas here. Perfect for commuting.

Not only do they not burn carbon, they're nice & quiet. I may buy one, but I'll be doing a spread sheet first to see if renting gas burners for long trips makes sense. I plan to travel, just not to the slave states.

Lots of companies are making less expensive EVs now... particularly Toyota who were late to the party... on purpose. If Toyota can return to its roots making indestructible no nonsense cars they'll bury Tesla.
