The thing about the 2nd amendment is. People want the right but not responsibility.
There can be no rights without responsibilities. And owning a firearm is a HUGE responsibility.

This is an area where I diverge from the NRA-types. I support gun licensing and training requirements. It's utterly irresponsible to allow someone to buy a firearm when that person has absolutely no training and no fsckin' clue on how to use the thing, other than point-n-shoot.

Such licensing and training requirements also weed out the mentally unstable and the sociopaths who want to buy guns on a whim.

By the way, the last time I suggested this, I got a LOT of pushback from the right-wingers on this thread.
