So Justin, why Solaris the dominant UNIX platform, while Linux is only popular with techies and academia?

I believe the snowball is still on top of the hill. Didn't Linux past MacOS last year?

Sal -

Is this a rhetorical question, or are you asking for my opinion?

Jeez, could it be the advertising? :-)

Seriously, Sal, while I use NT for a web server, I happen to know there are more linux web servers out there than NT servers.

Also, I think an OS being popular with techies and academics is a pretty good foothold in these technical days. It's true that MSFT can flummox dilbert's boss into going all-MSFT in the shop, but many a shop has paid in sorrow for that move. Just like going all-any vendor.

Linux continues to grow like wildfire. Me next, along with another 95 box.

Anybody know if you can dual-boot Linux and NT NTFS? I was doing that with Win95 and NT Workstation, using FAT drives, but Win95 eventually hosed up fat and trashed both Win95 and the NT system directories in the process. I would feel more comfortable with either the Linux or the NTFS file system.
