I wonder if Schwab only shorts shares in their own accounts or something. I don't know what the deal is with this.

>They also refused to short CSNTE the other day on grounds that it had not traded over $5 for a "significant period of time"

Well that is sort of up to them.

FWIW - I see a lot of people seem to be frustrated with them lately.

Brooks,

I had the same problem trying to short WDRY with Schwab when it was around 29. Also, couldn't short PNDA or CFON after trying numerous times. I called Schwab to complain and they said, in the case with PNDA and CFON there were no shares available. With WDRY they said it didn't "fit in their criteria." Whatever that meant. I pressed them on "their criteria" and they couldn't give me a decent answer. I'm seriously thinking of switching to another broker.

If anyone has any suggestions on what online broker to switch to I'd like to hear them. The reason why I've stayed with Scwhab this long is because I like Schwab 500's abilitiy to sift out stocks based on certain criteria that I look for. Maybe there's already a website that could do that. Any help appreciated.

Regards,
Allan
