I just want to publicly say I appreciate all you've done while you are vertical and can read it.

I've been here back to 1997 when one of the owners asked me to put SI on my "Kirk's Financial Links" list that was one of the few recommended by Yahoo! back then before there were search engines.

Funny story... A buddy made a web page (1995?) and bragged to me a few people found and read it. I wanted to make something to compete with him to get more hits. Just about all the "link sites" back there were to help you find high quality porn images. I wanted to do something "clean" that I could use from HP during down time and I wanted a way to find things to help me invest better.... I was helping someone now and then with feedback at Yahoo! on how to make their stock charts more useful, etc... so maybe they returned the favor. I've wondered if that was Jerry Yang in his garage... Later Suite101 came and asked me to moderate their "investing and personal finance" section where the idea was to have "human curators" to help people find what they were looking for. Like most "content sites" that eventually went under (after I left when I felt they were going in the wrong direction...) Suite101 died. AND SI IS STILL STANDING!

Look at how far we've come, now I just type a few words and AI in the search engines helps me find quickly what I'm looking for. No need to go to Yahoo! or Suite101 or whatever to get a list of curated links.

But the key for SI is it is still the most fun site for me to interact with others. Too many spammers on Facebook including Facebook that harasses you to buy their advertising rather than just let you create content like we can here.

Like me, you don't have kids but you've helped build a great legacy here and will be remembered for it.

Hang in there and I hope you remain above ground for a long time!

In my conversations with Brad, priority #1 was finding the right person to be the public face of SI. That list started with you... and ended with you. That the ship is still sailing and the waters have remained calm is both a testament to your knowledge and dedication and, most importantly, the respect everyone here has for you-- recognizing what you've been able to accomplish here over all these many years.

Similarly, your tenure here has made the lives of so many SI members so much more comfortable in their own journey through life. I'm sure I speak for everyone saying we'd like nothing better than to "pay it forward"... and of course hope and pray this timeline is later than sooner. :)
