"Seems like a matter of Southern pride, no?" And British or Mexican or Axis pride? Or maybe the 25-30% of the population who are proud that their ancestors were freed from slavery? "I'm so proud to have graduated from a high school named after the guy who tried to keep my great great under the whip"? == "The jumping car was named the General Lee. Did the producers name the car that way in order to honor a guy who 'killed more Americans than any other'"? That was back when woke meant awake, so it was to honor the guy who, in the recent unpleasantries, had heroically defended the plantation way of life against the depredations of those evil people up north.
