Just one little tidbit. I get the impression that the
CL-GD5465 chip is a cut above the other low-end AGP
accelerators in real world 3D applications. In 3D Winbench
97 it may have fared poorer than it actually deserved.
Recent results from Mercury Research show a marked relative
improvement in 3D Winbench 98 as well as a decent "Final
Reality" benchmark score, and that's for the PCI version
of the CL-GD5465. I have a feeling though that this is
not much of a competitive advantage for the "free-D" market.
Surely Cirrus is still aggressively competing for design
wins for the CL-GD5465 chip? It would not make sense not to
do so.
