Nickel 28 Capital (NKL-V) locked in a fight with a dissident group led by Pelham, cheered word today that the Ramu nickel mine in Papua New Guinea produced just over 9,000 tonnes of contained nickel and nearly 800 tonnes of contained cobalt in the first quarter of 2023. The company owns an 8.56-per-cent sliver of the mine, but it still received nearly $10-million (U.S.) as its distributable share of operating surpluses for the second half of 2022.

Mr. Milewski, executive chairman, was predictably pleased with "another outstanding quarter of production and sales" at Ramu, adding that he and his crew are starting to see a material reduction in the cash costs at Ramu thanks to reduced input and operating costs. (Mr. Milewski continues using the executive chairman title despite a majority of shareholder votes going against his recent election -- and despite his apparent resignation from the board two weeks ago, along with all his fellow board members.)
