Doren,
Few on the Russian side have any reason to risk life & limb. In a combined attack their incentive is to save their own asses.
The only RuZZian tactic that "works" is to send in waves of cannon fodder to spot for their artillery and exploit weak spots in Ukraine's defenses. Then the professional troops (either RuZZian regulars or Vagner thugs) follow right behind and fortify the newly-gained ground.

The cannon fodder, of course, are forced into a situation where they either have to advance, which entails a 95% chance of death, or they try to retreat, which entails a 100% chance of death.

That's "discipline," RuZZian-style.

But "discipline" based on fear is a lot less effective than discipline based on trust. Combined arms tactics relies upon the latter.

This is a major reason why I believe the Ukrainian counteroffensive will be massively successful.
