American Preferred Provider Plan, Newark, NJ, is a for-profit HMO currently covering over 40,000 Commercial and Medicaid lives in New Jersey, Washington, DC and Michigan.
According to Harold Smith, President and CEO of American, ''We selected MC400 because it was the most flexible and versatile of all the systems we reviewed. What impressed us most with MC400 was its ability to process our business today, and to grow with us. This was a very important issue to us. We needed a system that could process our start-up business models as well as process an enterprise-wide model cost-effectively. In addition to its system strengths, MC400 also impressed us with its unmatched technology. We saw some of what MC400 had in other systems we looked at, but we did not see everything in one system as we did with MC400. MC400 has it all. We're very satisfied that MC400 is the best package available on the market today.''
Joseph Randazzo, CFO and Executive Vice President of American Preferred Provider Plan, noted that, ''Today's marketplace requires that HMOs provide better management of care and a higher quality of care with a system that is at the vanguard of managed care information systems.'' He continued, ''MC400 offers flexibility and the capacity to handle the needs of an HMO with an ever-changing environment of multi-linear business.''
