I don't know what to make of these random reports in the news about Intel - TSEM and MXL-SIMO.

I don't think anyone knows whether they will be approved, or not.

I suspect the news reports are probably Chinese hedge funds manipulating the market, but I don't know.

SIMO-MXL has Aug 7th as the "drop dead" date, while Intel - TSEM has Aug 15th as the "drop dead" date.

If there is no Chinese decision by those dates, but both parties want to extend I think that's fairly straightforward. However, if one party wants to exit the deal that's when it would happen. I think Intel wants to move forward with the acquisition of TSEM, but SIMO's business has collapsed so badly since the announcement that I wouldn't be surprised if MXL prefers to pay $160m break up fee and walk away.

SIMO is trading $50 below the deal value!
