TJ, when still in NYC I attended a lecture by Henry Kissinger ME related. Of course there where other Israelis that question what his opinion is related to the anticipated influx of Soviet Union emigree to Israel. His answer was short and now I attest to the point. "be careful what you wish for" Israel of 1961 when I arrived from Romania is much much worse today in 2023 then upon my arrival. The turning point was the 1973 war which war was very traumatic for Israel population and nuclear option was considered. The state hold it's balance more or less until 1980-84 when I left for the US. I did not visit again until 1996/7 when I worked on financing a 550 MW power station on the dead sea - then the country started to slide the slippery slope already and the project was not implemented with generous support from the US as JV between Israel and Jordan Dead Sea works due to bribes and request of orderly GAAP standard financial statement. For me it was a wake up call, but had no choice but to return in 2005 to care for my sick mother as the 24/7 care taker told me she cannot fight every day with the HMO so my mother will receive the proper care. Little I knew that this was actually the beginning of her poisoning with often lung inflammation and kidney problems. It took me years to learn the problems after my mother passed away. It is a sorry situation that is difficult emotionally to fully describe. I will stop now
