Dear Kenneth: Can you just imagine the last supper. Christ toasting everyone and saying "this is my body"; Judas getting ready to hand over Jesus, a time of passover with festivity, celebration, talking about old times, passing around a bottle or two of Fortant Chardonnay or Cadet Merlot; and then Jesus produces a pitcher of water and a towel and starts washing the feet of the James and John and Mark and Luke and he gets to Peter and Peter says Lord you will not wash my feet. Jesus very seriously says to him Peter if I do not wash your feet then you do not have any part of me and I do not have any part of you. Peter then in a roar of laughter says well then Lord wash them ( my feet ) my hands and my head too !! Ha! Ha! ( I mean if you are that serious about this washing thing go for it! ) As it turns out this was the last opportunity Christ had to sum up what being a Christian is all about. I read a book on Alexander the Great..No wonder he had the loyalty of his army..if his army was on water rations marching through the desert he would take half the ration he would give his men. Then when they reached a water hole he would make sure every man drank to his fill before he would touch a drop and he would end up with the dirtiest, muddiest water. This is what Christ means when He says the first shall be last and the last shall be first; those that exalt themselves shall be humbled and those that humble themselves shall be exalted. Blessed are the poor in spirit.. not the poor, not the rich , not the most spiritual, not the smartest, not the wisest, not the boldest, most assertive. So by none of these measurers shall I be judged, surely not by what limited wisdom the Lord has given me to minister in a Christian oriented thread. To be honest with you I feel like I am a rebellious, sort, very stubborn, slow to catch on, prone to wander, aggresive at the wrong times, heeds not good advice, pushes the limits God gives me,slow to rise in the morning, stay up too late a night, sometimes too lazy to pick up my shoes, fanatical about physical exercise in excess instead of spending more time in prayer ect..so if God can use all that to His glory more power to Him..Better yet, He does !! I know that !! and that is why I love Him so !!IN CHRIST...gregor
