It's the price they pay for accepting our aid, which is the price we pay to counter China's influence.
AFAIK, our aid is related to combatting AIDS (no pun intended).

If we really care about countering China's influence, we would NOT try and impose our liberal values upon them.

Besides, Uganda's anti-sodomy laws can be construed as their way of lowering HIV infection rates. Unfortuanently, we can't advocate that because it's too discriminatory.

Hence we need to choose priorities, but it's highly unlikely that Brandon is capable of doing that, given his "lead from his behind" foreign policy.
