Sorry to have offended you but this is a subject near and dear to my heart.
Psychology is a fascinating yet VERY VERY imperfect practice.
There's been great advances yet probably more hokey BS than any other science. Too many people trying to make names for themselves and colleagues ready to jump on a bandwagon. How many innocent people were put in jail during the repressed abuse memory fiasco of the 80s when every Hollywood celebrity and countless others accused innocent people of abuse and had them locked up. Oops, we were wrong, sorry.
How many lobotomies were butchered before we knew the exact location of the defective parts of the brain. Electroshock therapy where nonspecific parts of the brain are erased/destroyed.
Apparently, do no harm doesn't apply to this specialty.
Every quack wants to make a name for themselves so throws out a theory and most of them end up in the trash but only after a generation has been used as guinea pigs to find that it didn't hold water.
I especially get a kick out of anti-depression medicine that has the side effect of suicidal thoughts. Isn't that what it's supposed to be treating? WTF!!!!
