Dan and all:

I figured I'd get some questions because most of the people on this thread are pretty smart. Here is what I will do:

I've gotten a few questions and e-mails on the subject of how MMs actually function. It's pretty complex, and I am not the World Expert. I do know a lot more than I did 3 years ago when I decided to try and understand it;

so next week, I'll work up a detailed explanation of the whole thing for everyone, and then I will post it. I don't know everything, so if it's not on the post, I don't know it. Give me a few days, say Wednesday or Thursday, and I'll have a post you can understand. If I screw something up, there are plenty of people on the thread that can sort out the mistakes.

It's really really interesting. You should be able to use the info to save some money.

OK? thanks, pete

Dan and all: regarding HOW THE MARKET MAKERS WORK

Here's the reason I think the WWW is changing the face of the planet. I sat down to start my novel (believe me it was going to be a long answer) and started surfing the WWW for reference material. I found a site that has already done all the work! The answers are clear and concise, and it has a great "search" feature. I tried a few, like "market makers" and "bid and ask", and it works great! This site is fantastic, and I urge anyone with a question to visit it. I'm done!

Some weeks back, I set up a site for people like me who have to look words up constantly because of all the stuff I don't understand. If you search on SI for "dictionary" "glossary" or "FAQ" you'll get it. The site I just found is the last entry on that thread. You may wish to bookmark the thread, there is not much that isn't there in the way of reference. Check it out!

(A REQUEST TO ANYONE READING THIS WHO MAY HAVE A SITE TO POST ON THE "GLOSSARY THREAD": PLEASE FOLLOW THE FORMAT OUTLINED ON THE THREAD AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO CHAT, ETC.)

here is the glossary/dictionary/FAQ thread: Subject 18891

I love the Internet. (I'll still answer the question about the bid size and the ask size and all that next week if necessary, but check this site, they probably have it there somewhere.) pete
