I was an 8th-grader in Los Angeles, up at one in the morning quietly playing my guitar while watching RFK on TV celebrating his big California primary win. Saw it all on TV. Didn’t sleep that night.

I was living in Tel Aviv when President Kennedy was shot. I was 9 years old at the time. News of this came in the evening. I was a bit surprised or kind of shocked by the news. But I lost no sleep over this and I did not discuss this with my friends or family at the time. There were many Americans in the neighborhood where we were living and they discussed it among themselves.

My Mom was a Democrat and voted for President Kennedy. I am not sure who my father voted for.

If I was living in NYC at the time, I'm sure the death of President Kennedy would have been more magnified. But life went on seamlessly in Tel Aviv, with little thought as to what really went on during that fateful day. And yes, I was born in NYC and am a natural born American.
