notes,

(1) DDP lost the city mayoral elections last year

(2) DDP shall most likely lose the Republic of China (ROC) presidential election, unless outsiders interfere by creating incidents that put the frighteners into the otherwise carefree population

(3) The People's Republic of China (PRC) is waiting, and presumably wait another 50 years but must constantly remind folks all around of the claim else the claim go bad as debts often sometimes do

(4) My wager is that the reunification shall be mostly peaceful, involving no beach landings, parachute drops, embargo, or blockades. One morning a slew of ROC generals shall get a phone call, each promised a spot of the new Taiwan provincial government and the next day many youngsters would land at various airports in civilian airports. The military airports would be self-locked-down, and 24 hours later flag-changing ceremony would be on.

(5) the concern re (4) is what motivates some outsiders and a few insiders to try to set time lines PRC never set, because time, the critical factor, is critical

I think, an educated guess
