Good thing that (i) I actually have a bit of (actually a huge pile stretching back to 2020 March) backlog and forward-log of to-do's that (ii) the kids shall both be fully engaged starting 22nd June. IOW I can at most goof-off 10 unaffordable days unless (iii) I work up some new excuse. Am thinking diligently whilst napping. (2) Re the seemingly rhetorical question you posed, it would seem that at least the Russians thought such would be, as if by historical clockwork, and this time apparently better able to deal with the tradition by the looks of this biased propaganda-esque community southfront.org (3) From all that I could gather by monitoring the biased sites of both / all sides, what I worked out is tracking to below out-line (3-i) Team Ukraine gathered equipment donated from many including Team Germany, the domain whose pipeline Team Ukraine might have done kibosh to, and launched a and possibly last counter-offensive if we believe one side (3-ii) The launched equipment typically rolled down path of least-mined, or newly de-mined, with all the vehicles bunched together such that none would veer off of the safer path and make it through what appears to be perfect tank but very bad not tanker fields, just endless open flat fields interrupted by some pitifully thin tree lines and effectively no foliage covers (3-iii) No air cover, and no anti-air bubble - either someone forgot during training / planning, or such were destroyed in warehouses or something - I wait for explanations (3-iv) The lead tank(s) are burdened with de-mining gear, heavily laden, and roll at crawl speed, enforcing same speed on the column all bunched up - if we see such in a movie we know what would happen next (3-v) Turns out we would be correct, that the lead tank(s) get taken off-line by rockets, artillery and or drones, launched by infantry, helicopter, APC, or ground-support fighter bombers - iow, classic / textbook combined arms (3-vi) The rest of the column breaks up with some vehicles charging ahead but now denuded of mine-clearing gear, some veering into the mine field, and some stand and starts shooting (3-vii) The vehicles are taken out by and by, none likely to escape (3-viii) For the few that does manage to turn 180 degrees and go in the away direction, quickly find out that a new mine field has been deployed by the Russians using specialised rocketry, to stop escapees, and would-be rescuers alikeVIDEO (3-ix) In all cases the counter-offensive vectors find it problematic to reach the first of several defence-in-depth fortification works that apparent stretch for hundreds of kilometres (3-x) Unclear Team Nato reckoned any of above possibilities, and less clear there is any counter until and unless Nato does boots-on-the-ground (3-xi) Nato MUST do boots on the ground if escalation escalator logic is valid, and Russians are ONLY bluffing about 'decision-making centres' etc etc (3-xii) Supposedly the first-in would be the troops from the three Baltic states and Poland, to be followed by rest of willing, but questionable Germany, France, and Italy into such adventures. Team USA leadership might prove pivotal (4) Do not know quite how we got here, but the Ukraine episode has now perhaps evolved into something existential for many. Time shall better tell. (5) I remain agnostic w/r to why, how, when, who, what, etc, because suspect I ONLY know 1% of the truth. In the meantime, for anyone interested in history, undoubtedly something big is going down.
