PalmPilot adapts to business use: (San Jose Mercury News) 2/14/98 Palmpilots, the handheld computer from 3Com Corp.'s Palm Computing subsidiary, have been adapted mostly for personal use. AvantGo Inc. of San Mateo is to unveil software Tuesday that lets corporations make greater use of the devices. AvantGo's Web Client, coupled with a desktop component, lets people download corporate intranet information to their pilots and access information using a Web browser interface. Mike McGuire, senior industry analyst for Dataquest, said in the past couple of months companies have started testing the PalmPilot as a corporate tool, and that AvantGo's product could help them become more useful to businesses.
