Samira,
Thank you for this most enthralling description of "Life with Iqbal".

Having met him in NYC in September, your story only confirms my mind's picture of him at work. He is lucky to have you as an assistant! Thanks for all of your hard work in conveying his thoughts to the rest of us at the Idea thread...

Chuck

We should try to optimise our returns from the market.

that is the subject of this thread when started...

what about capitalizing on dividends? I am new to day trading and 2 stocks I recently held for only a day or two, I learned by surprise that I am receiving dividend checks. I lucked out by not only making profits, but the added bonus of dividends which more than paid for the commissions of those trades. So this seems like another way to "optimize" our returns. Would be very interested to know how one can research dividend schedules for various stocks. For example, if one wants to know the dates dividends are earned for the month of March, and which stocks earn these dividends, then to couple that information with the trend of the stock, one can certainly pull that extra bonus with the sell off and profit taking of that security. Is there anyone interested in either starting a thread like this and keeping it active, or contributing this aspect of information to this thread?

Samira:

Thank you for the insights. As I have been reading his messages for many months (since July-August 1997), I have noted a person filled with intelligence, understanding, patience, and never-ending energy, knowledge.

I follow his posts; make many decisions based on indices' resistance / support. Am learning to "guard" my positions.

Having more successes based on global information being provided.

Very best regards,
Anne Stehley

Samira,

Thank you for your post!

<< Never have any of his articles on the thread, or anywhere else, been a result of endless poring over publications; they come from, I believe, naturally overactive brain cells. He is an ardent believer of "the big picture," has a deeply incisive and analytical mind, and has so much common sense that it borders on the genius. >>

This is the Iqbal that I remember in NYC! If we had more time I would have blown more than a few brain cells trying to keep up with his thoughts!!!
