hi haim, re <<how much truth is to this story?>> (1) I do not know (2) I do know that such dramas have much audience (3) The drama shows must be based on overarching history context and interspersed with actual albeit possibly dramatised (external / exogenous) events (4) Most of the where-from's and how-to's must be based on semblance of at least legends, else would presumably lose audience (5) Much dramatisation must be used in actual show-making / story-telling (6) The particular show you cited, without me drilling down, and so am guessing, is made on mainland China (I am guessing based on lack of accents in the performers), but I do not know
