Ralfph,
I am aware he had cancer but have no idea what steps he took to fight it.
It was detailed in Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs:

Amazon.com: Steve Jobs: 9781451648539: Isaacson, Walter: Books

According to Jobs' mentor, Andy Grove, Jobs tried to deal with his cancer by eating "horseshit and horseshit roots."

(It's worth noting that Grove also had to deal with his own bout of cancer, but Grove dealt with it through self-research and medically-accepted means.)

I highly recommend reading the biography in its entirety, by the way.
