[PCI expansion box]
zeuspaul, i guess in your reference about 'sharing' they adress 'resource sharing' in a general sense. so, i still think sharing of 'PCI IRQs' shouldnt be a problem. but iam not a pci expert.
i cant tell the difference between a primary/secondary pci bus. i only know, that you can have a max of 5 pci slots and if you want more you need a pci-bridge. may be the pci bus behind the bridge is the secondary.

in the meantime i found a company 'SBS Bit 3' offering PCI expansion boxes:

bit3.com
e.g. the Model 2101:

Model 2101 PCI-to-PCI Mini-Tower Expansion Unit provides a cost-effective way to increase the number of high-performance PCI devices available to the system. The Expansion Unit provides a low
latency, high throughput path to seven 32-bit PCI slots in a stand-alone chassis. Each backplane can support 3 long and 4 short or 7 short form factor +5V PCI cards. Each slot is master capable,
allowing peer-to-peer communication within the stand-alone chassis. Also, the Expansion Unit provides three 3.5-inch bays and two 5.25-inch bays for increasing the number of peripherals available to
the PCI system.

since this topic is new to me i cant tell more.

found another one ('magma') including prices

magma.com

hm..its abit expensive
