Andy, as far as I know, MS does not produce the so-called ' palm-pc'
. Nine other manufacturers use the Window CE and MS specs to produce the Handheld PC. For example, from your article, HP is using CE to make the 'Palmtop PC'.

Microsoft is a software companies and it doesn't do hardware. Window CE is for small devices like palm-pc and TV set-top boxes(TCI). The benefit is that it can run on many platforms besides Intel's. Intel is late to this explosive-growth small appliances game - indicating Intel is far from good at everything.

Maybe a better strategy for coms is to also support Window CE. What the hack, 3com is a hardware company and it shouldn't fight over software with MS. Nobody had won fighting with MS over softwares.
