Randy, I agree. This is a remarkable thread. A year, two years ago, I wondered if I was perhaps the only one who considered Zenith to be a company with fascinating potential. Now I realize there are people all over this country who are watching Zenith. Aside from those who make contributions, I'm sure there are many others out there who are watching this thread with avid interest.

As we await the announcement of the 4th quarter results, I find myself asking the same questions I ask myself every three months: Why does it take so long? Is it so complicated? Isn't most of this stuff on computers? Can't someone just punch a few buttons and print a report?

The first quarter of 1998 is half over, and the results of the previous quarter haven't been announced. If the results were known, wouldn't they be announced. Conversely, if the results haven't been announced, does this mean that the company still does not have a complete picture of what happened in the fourth quarter?

I'm not being critical. I'm just very curious. Some companies seem to announce results very quickly, while others seem to take much longer. Is there a problem, or is there simply something in the nature of the TV manufacturing business which makes the announcement of quarterly results a much more time-consuming process? At this point, I'm actually getting mentally worn out waiting for the news. If the results are disappointing, I want to know and get it behind me. If the results are encouraging, I certainly want to know that as soon as possible.

It seems to me that one way to improve business operations in the present quarter would be to know the results of the previous quarter as quickly as possible.

While I am always eagerly awaiting and searching for good news of any kind, the news that I most eagerly wait for is the announcement of a quarterly profit. Two consecutive profitable quarters would make my heart sing. Good news announcements without accompanying profits don't seem to be enough. The market respects a profit. And I hope the bull market remains intact.
