Hi Mark, speaking of the Cult of the Systemic Faith, the FDA recently
approved yet another diet pill named Meridia. The story by John Henderson of Associated Press released yesterday stated,"The FDA approved it over the objections of its own scientific advisers, who said potential side-effects make the drug too risky. It can cause increases in blood pressure and pulse rate that may endanger patients with hypertension or certain heart conditions, the FDA warned."

Within the same story, Henderson observed, "Doctors at Nutri/System, a chain of diet clinics with 100,000 clients, will start writing prescriptions, <as soon as it's in drugstores,> says Brian Haveson, the company's president."

With little more to go on, the assumption that Viagra will be approved is academic. The role of gatekeeper seems to fall more and more on the physicians shoulders.
