Quoting from the article it's not clear so I consider the range as either or total to mix between the two. So maybe it can drive 100 miles while also flying 50 miles and then hope the battery doesn't die along with the pilot and passenger. And the range is bad compared to traditional small ICE aircraft.

Again, the most important point is all of these still require a private pilot license (PPL) from the FAA.

p.s. Unsure if autorotation would work normally on a caged fan contraption like this. I'd want an emergency parachute attached to the capsule with an automatic release from the caged fans but that would likely increase the cost by 50%. ha.
