I personally think the press wishes to appear balanced. I recall when Evista came out there was a doctor making non positive comments about Evista. The doctor was aligned w/ Wyeth.

Henry, I don't know much about Americal myself but Charles Engleberg is long-time tech bear Bill Fleckenstein's favorite Bio analyst. This is a quote from him at stocksite.com"

" I mentioned that biotechnology could get some speculative action because, even if the market goes down, folks always seem to look for an area that will do well. Biotech is not economically sensitive, and in my opinion, some of the smaller biotechnology stocks are fairly priced. I like biotech as a business better than a technology because, if you are successful in developing a new product, you get patent protection from the FDA for seven years. That creates a barrier to entry and makes it a better business than technology. I do have small positions in a couple of biotechs in my fund, but I'm a bit reluctant to give out names. Depending on your investment approach, these might not be right for you. I will, however, recommend Americal Securities in California as a brokerage firm worth contacting. Dr. Charles Engelberg - in my opinion, the best biotech analyst - works there. He's been right on important biotech issues more often than anyone I know. My suggestion is to talk to him."
