ahh Jack,

Exactly!
I occasionally fantasize benign big government with regulations galore, but then I realize how corrupt such arrangements have historically proved to be. On the other hand, the feudal state is not one I visualize myself or my children prospering in, either. I am undecided but open minded.>> By the way, not only corrupt they have been, but extremely restrictive. Any idea how many pages the federal register is today compared to the 1950s?

The real truth is that, on a true macro scale, the big question is how to manage (regulate et al) a truly world economy which we seem to be becoming whether we like (or have had time to think about)it or not. I suspect history will judge this episode (and this will be episodic) as the first real post colonial hurdle. Another question, can we truly operate on a global basis, without a unilateral world order? (I can feel the Ann Rand folks stirring when I say this, so I will hasten to add, I hope not). If not then what are we heading towards? Conflaguration? Economic feudalism?

Again I wish to caution: I have been up since 5 AM, listening to Sibelius and Dvorak, and have just had a rare third cup of coffee. I am allowing my feeble intellect to sort of just "hang out". Its a lovely morning in Kuala Lumpur, after a heavy rain last night "cooled" things off and I have had my sojourn in the garden and done battle with the weeds. Flesh from the triumph I am (sort of) venturing out here. ALL COMMENTS are welcome including those equally off the wall.

Best,
Stitch
