Beauty is a culturally inculcated belief.

For example during the Renaissance corpulent women were considered beautiful. Tans were considered ugly.

This is because rich women were fat, and working people worked in the fields and were thin and tanned.

Peter Paul Ruben's idea of female beauty:

When the industrial revolution came people went to work in factories they became pale, rich people played tennis and got tanned. Now tans were beautiful.

The fashion industry wanted women to feel ugly so they would by beauty products and fashionable clothing to feel better about their looks. So they chose very thin women because they knew few women could become skinny so they felt fat and ugly. The NEW diseases of Anorexia and Bulimia were the result.

Some native american bound babies skulls to make them taller and "more beautiful"... the Chines bound women's feet to make them more beautiful.

Today the standard of hour glass shaped women, with high cheekbones and small pointed noses is "beautiful" in other words European looks are beautiful... African or Central American looks aren't beautiful...

We're all brainwashed by these concepts.
