I had already figured on 'privately-held' when I began digging. I wasn't expecting 'hermitly-held'. Not that one should read too much into this, but heck, getting info has never proven so difficult. One can get info on smaller, 'more privately-held' companies like tiny-but-mighty Insurance Software Solutions, without too much difficulty. Or taking the case of Magnetic Diary, their 'company' status would be considered obscure if not downright ambiguous—but you can learn about various CD-ROM and web projects they've done with SyQuest, Apple, Amdahl, etc… if you look in the appropriate dusty corners. Interesting that I can learn about “The Facade of the Colleoni Chapel”, and “Pittori in Bottega” with a fraction of the effort required to learn nothing about either Veronex or VentureTech—who are supposedly at the pinnacle's edge of Y2K technology with important I/NOVA tools, doing important stuff in the Y2K sector. Maybe it's all just a great marketing ploy bringing to mind the commercial tagline: “The company nobody talks about”. The sector, itself, has recognition problems. Landing clients as a faceless unknown, from a sector which is taken only somewhat seriously has got to be a major PR challenge. It will take somebody with a Senator's charm and charisma. Aside from you, TED, and Jeff, few others fit this description. It's definitely not me. <gg> An interesting note: if one sets search parameters too broad, in addition to the Italian masters you also get Chapter 8 of Xena Kore: “What do you think that was in the pastry shell?” Janice asks. -MrB
